BulletSchieffelin Monument
Save
This monument is in honor of prospector Ed Schieffelin who gave Tombstone, AZ its name. When working on the southeast portion of the Arizona Territory in 1877, he came across a very rich silver ore in Goose Flats. He then named his mining claim "The Tombstone," after a warning he received from a passing soldier. This name was then used in 1879 when the town of Tombstone was founded.
